SKOOT eBike, an iDEA project startup is now in Sylhet
An iDEA project portfolio startup SKOOT Limited, under BCC of Information and Communication Technology Division has started its operations in Sylhet. Sylhet Divisional Commissioner and Additional Secretary Abu Ahmad Siddiqui inaugurated the station of SKOOT at Chauhatta Point in Sylhet on Saturday afternoon. The Chairman of SKOOT Limited Kazi Masud Ahmed and the Managing Director of the company Kazi Ridwan Ahmed and many others were also present.
While launching the station, Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Abu Ahmad Siddiqui said SKOOT is a unique service aimed at creating digital Bangladesh. He thanked the iDEA Project of the ICT Division for supporting the home-grown startups. He also said that young entrepreneurs should come forward to build a smart Bangladesh in 2041. Finally, he urged the youth not only to look for jobs but also to become entrepreneurs.
SKOOT Managing Director Kazi Ridwan Ahmed said that, the activities of SKOOT are being expanded to make people's daily transportation even simpler, affordable and safe. Mentioning SKOOT Limited as the country's first eco-friendly e-bike sharing company, he said that currently SKOOT activities are being conducted in Khulna, Rajshahi and Sylhet in Bangladesh. He also said that scooter bikes can be rented for 2 taka per minute and this service can be taken by registering for 20 taka first. Initially, this service was available at Chowhatta point in Sylhet city, but later several more stations will be opened in Sylhet, he said.
So far the Selection Committee of iDEA has approved the grant of Tk. 10 lakh to 385 potential startups at the pre-seed stage. Among these startups, several startups are doing well after receiving grants, one of which is SKOOT Limited.
